Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 A.D. He was an American lawyer and politician who served as 16th President of the United States from 1861 until the assassination in April 1865. He was born in Kentucky. He grew up on the Western frontier in a poor family. Lincoln led the United States through the American civil war. It was the bloodiest war and perhaps the greatest moral, constitutional and political crisis. His presidency was dominated by the American civil war. His parents were poor pioneers and Lincoln was largely self-educated. In 1836 he qualified as a lawyer and went to work in a spring field, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln is regarded as one of the greatest heroes due to his role as savior of the union and emancipator of the slaves. He was born to Thomas and Nancy Harks Lincoln.
